Central Connecticut had a great weekend at the Iona John "Paddy" Doyle Meet of Champions. The 8k race was held at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, New York and featured 205 competitors, including runners from CCSU and St. Francis Brooklyn. Sophomore Ryan Hertzog (Glenville, PA/Rober Morris) was the top NEC performer with a 43rd place finish and a time of 26:53. Luis Porto (Brooklyn, NY/Manhattan Center for Science and Math) Porto paved the way for the Terriers as he crossed the finish line with a time of 27:08, in 58th place. NEC Athlete of the Week, Krisztina Dearborn (Tuftonboro, NH/Brewster Academy), was the top NEC finisher in the 5K race with a 35th finish and a time of 23:36. September 27, the NEC will takeover New Britain, CT at the Ted Owen Invitational in a preview event of the NEC Championship.
